Budgeting your attacks to ALWAYS profit.
The game is basically calculated by expense and profit. Always keep in mind the total cost of your army when attacking. Use a calculator if it makes it easier. For example: 180 archers at 200 elixir for each archer equals 36000 elixir, and you can make this many every 20 minutes or so. Calculating the time to build and the expense of your preferred army will give you a good idea on what targets you can hit and continually profit.
During war we (DARKSKULL) expect you to shoulder additional expense to ensure 3 star attacks against opponents of similar rank. If on the war map you are ranked as 23rd, DARKSKULL expects you to be able to attack between 18th to 28th on the enemy team. Attacking far beneath your rank/ability is punishable by removal from the clan or demotion.

Also I forgot to mention spell cost. Consider all expenditures vs. Profits on raids. In my opinion the only really worthwhile spell is RAGE (again IMO)
